Why Niacinamide Might Be the Best Ingredient for Your Skincare Routine

We often hear about the benefits of Vitamin C, Vitamin E and even Vitamin A for skin. We know all about the brightening, hydrating and anti-aging properties in these ingredients and we constantly see them listed in some of our favorite skincare products - and that’s because they truly work. But one of the lesser known vitamins that packs a powerful punch when it comes to skincare is Vitamin B3, also known as niacinamide.

What is niacinamide and what does it do?

Niacinamide

Niacinamide is an essential water-soluble vitamin that cannot be synthesized by the human body, which means we have to consume it or apply it topically to our skin. In skincare, it is known as a brightening ingredient that helps improve and even skin tone and can prevent acne and scarring that can occur after breakouts. It works especially well when used with products containing Vitamin E and/or Green chai extract and it is gentle enough to use morning and night on a daily basis.

What are the benefits of niacinamide in skincare products?

Vitamin B3 is essential for cell regeneration and DNA repair. Niacinamide in skincare products works to prevent UV damage like hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration and helps to maintain tone and texture.

Its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties make niacinamide a frequently used ingredient in the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions such as rosacea and eczema. Because of its ability to strengthen the skin’s barrier, this ingredient is often used in sunscreens and serums like AVYA’s Hydroveda Serum with Niacinamide and Mung Lentil Seed extract

While this wonder-vitamin is safe enough for daily use, high concentrations of niacinamide can sometimes cause irritation. We’ve balanced our serum with ancient Ayurvedic ingredients like Mung Lentil Seed extract and AVYA’s Signature Qusome, a powerfully nourishing and soothing mixture of Ayurvedic botanical extracts neem, turmeric and peony, to calm skin and increase healing.

How to use niacinamide

Niacinamide is at its best when used in conjunction with other products that contain soothing ingredients like Vitamin E or green chai. Niacinamide’s job is to protect and strengthen the skin barrier, so make sure that any products that contain this ingredient are formulated with technology that allows it to reach the necessary layers of skin for it to do its job. AVYA formulated all of our products with microencapsulation technology that allows active ingredients to penetrate the skin at the correct layer
